H109 is a residential compound for a family of builders located in the heart of urban Bangkok. Set on a 1-Rai plot of land (1,600 sq.m.), the challenge was to accommodate the programmatic requirements for five buildings, with two separate parking and entrances, while maintaining privacy and optimizing views and space.

The design turns the buildings inward, facing a shared courtyard with a garden and pool, while placing the service spaces toward the perimeter. The fortress-like layout layers a series of walls and entrances to create an urban oasis within.

To reflect the family’s identity, steel and concrete are used both structurally and as finishing materials. Weathering steel feature walls curate the entrance experience, while heavy concrete volumes serve as both the building massing and shading devices.
